Gregory White

Gregory is a Partner and head of the Private Client team, advising private individuals on a wide range of private client matters in relation to court of protection, estate administration, estate planning, mental capacity issues, powers of attorney, trusts and wills.  Gregory is also frequently appointed by other law firms to act as an independent administrator to assist with the winding up of disputed estates.

Gregory joined the firm in 2001 and is proud to be part of the success story that is Dixon Ward.  A member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and Lifetime Lawyers, as well as a notary public, Gregory has successfully completed the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists course.

Recent experience includes acting for the Third Defendants in Morris v Morris & Others [2024] EWHC 2554 (Ch) and also for Mr Ninian in Ninian v Findlay [2019] EWHC 297 (Ch) both involving High Court landmark rulings concerning assisted dying pursuant to applications by surviving spouses for relief against the effects of forfeiture under the Forfeiture Act 1982.

Other notable experience includes as :-

• independent administrator in Thakare v Bhusate [2020] EDHC 52 (Ch) in which The High Court handed down judgment concerning a late claim submitted under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependents) Act 1975.

• precursor involvement in Rondel v Robinson Estate & ors [2011] ONCA 493 (CanLII) concerning Canada Court of Appeal rules that directed extrinsic evidence of a testator’s intentions inadmissible.

Gregory has an established background in media from a previous career spanning tv/radio presenting, writing and production roles, combined with a strong understanding of finance and law for later-life and vulnerable clients.  An efficient and organised practitioner with very effective working methods, Gregory takes pride in providing practical and clear advice in an efficient manner.  Clients appreciate his sound technical knowledge, his attention to detail and his calm and open approach to their issues.
